Documenting Finland’s Live Music Scene
One Gig at a Time is an independent project that explores the Finnish music scene through sharing live experiences, stories and observations. It was created out of a passion for live music and an interest in the people, places, structures and ideas behind music. The project is meant to take a look behind the scenes and look beyond streaming numbers and industry statistics. It is about the connection between an artist and their audience, about the atmosphere of live performances and the communities that shared music can create.
Beyond the Stage
By combining a personal, journalistic and academic perspective, One Gig at a Time documents concerts, gigs and artists, shaping Finland’s diverse musical landscape. Through reviews, lists and articles, the project aims to make the Finnish music scene more accessible to an international audience and create a deeper understanding of Finnish music culture while exploring the role of live music in today’s industry.
Behind One Gig at a Time
I am Angelina, originally from Austria and currently based in Helsinki. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in musicology from the University of Graz and the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, which led me to move to Finland in order to experience the music scene here firsthand. I am particularly interested in live music, artist development, and the music industry.
Through One Gig at a Time, I am documenting my journey of discovering Finland’s diverse music scene while continuing to learn from every concert I attend. Every concert is different: every musician, every audience and every song creates a unique experience. This project is my attempt to capture those stories, one gig at a time.
